Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Thanksgiving brings family and loved ones together, which itself is a blessing. But it also reminds us of the importance of giving thanks. We all have much to be thankful for, but we can easily forget that in the rush and pressure of life. However, research shows that having an \u2018attitude of gratitude\u2019 is not only good for our own mental and physical health, it is a blessing to those around us as well. And as people of faith, we believe God is also pleased when we thank Him for His many blessings. There is a reason the Bible repeats this advice over and over: \"Give thanks to the LORD for He is Good, His love endures forever\u201d (Psalm 107:1).<\/p>\n

Most of us (including myself for sure) tend to long for the things we don\u2019t have. All through history, humanity has made itself miserable by longing after what we do not have, rather than enjoying and being thankful for what we do possess (just look at Adam and Eve). Today, with professional marketers paying literally billions of dollars annually to make us want their products, it might be harder than ever to practice gratefulness. But it is more important than ever.<\/p>\n

So, this week, let\u2019s cultivate the Spirit of Thanksgiving. Let\u2019s take time to be thankful, to appreciate all we have. All of us have much to be thankful for, but we have to stop and \u2018count our blessings\u2019 as the old hymn reminds us. This week, let\u2019s make time every morning and evening to do just that. And if we can do it with family and friends around us \u2013 that is another blessing.<\/p>\n

Wishing you and yours a blessed and beautiful Thanksgiving \u2013 and an \u2018Attitude of Gratitude\u2019 all year round!!<\/p>\n
