Millions Still Without Food, Shelter, or Clean Water After 7.7 Magnitude Earthquake

April 6, 2025 | Yangoon, Myanmar: Family First Myanmar (FFMM) and Family First Global (FFG) are rallying support to help as many of the devastated families of Myanmar as possible. FFMM Chairman Pastor John Thang travelled from Yangon (Myanmar’s capital city) to Mandalay Myanmar’s (second largest city and the epicenter of the earthquake), and Sagaing City last week to survey the damage and begin the relief response efforts.

“The devastation is nationwide but is especially bad in and around Mandalay,”

he reported.

“The fact that the extremely powerful earthquake came on top of a brutal 4-year civil war has made life extremely challenging for the people of my nation. That’s why we at Family First Myanmar are trying to bring hope and healing to as many families as we can. We are deeply grateful for the help and support of our Family First Global partners from around the world for the people of Myanmar,

he concluded.

“Current estimates suggest that as many as 15 million people in Myanmar have been affected by the earthquake, with initial reports indicating that up to 10,000 lives may have been lost,”

said Mr. Glenn Yu, Chairman of Family First Asia.

“The quake was felt across the region, with structural damage and casualties reported as far as Bangkok. Family First Asia is committed to supporting our brothers and sisters in Myanmar during this time of great need. It is a privilege to serve and stand in solidarity with them. This is the heart of what Family First Asia and Family First Global represent — families helping families in times of crisis.”

“We are honored to have a great team of local leaders in Myanmar,”

said Mr. Gregory Slayton.

“The Chairman of Family First Global. Our FFMM Leadership Team has been serving and blessing Burmese families for 5+ years in that war-torn region. But despite the horrific Civil War and now the major earthquake, they have never stopped serving, loving, and blessing in the Spirit of Jesus. That is truly what Family First Global is all about. Please keep Myanmar and FFMM in your prayers,”

he asked.

Family First Myanmar has been faithfully serving families across the country. Even through times of conflict and instability, the team has remained a steady source of care and support. Now, their long-standing presence on the ground allows them to respond quickly and effectively to this growing humanitarian crisis.
